Project summary
The Troilus mine project was authorized on October 20, 1994 under Section 164 of the Environment Quality Act. The mine entered into production in the autumn of 1996. Gold and copper were mined from open pits for about 13 years until production stopped in one pit in May, 2008, and in the second in April of 2009.
This project is currently subject to an application to amend the certificate of authorizarion to change the PR-1 effluent location via the tailings pond spillway.
Details on location
The Troilus mine site is located at the northeast corner of the Assinica wildlife reserve, 60 km west of Lake Mistassini, 80 km northwest of the community of Mistissini and 175 km north of Chibougamau.
