Project summary

The Bachelor mining site was operated from 1982 to 1989 by the Bachelor Lake Gold Mine company. It consists of an existing underground mine which was developed as far as level 12 (521 metres). Metanor Resources acquired the mining rights to the Bachelor site in 2008 with a view to reopening it. It has made a number of retrofits to the installations and more recently, has been processing ore coming from the Barry Mine. Since August 2012, Metanor has been underground mining the Bachelor Lake deposit using the existing surface and underground mining equipment.

This project was authorized by a global certificate of authorization issued on July 4, 2012 comprising 17 conditions. Since then, the project has undergone many changes that involve modification requests to the certificate of authorization.

The main changes proposed and currently under review by the COMEX are:

  • This application to amend the certificate of authorization (CA) is intended to include the milling of ore from the Barry site to the Bachelor mill. The contribution of Barry site ore to the Bachelor mill on a daily basis will be approximately 300 t.
